Visitor Comments August 2009 - 2010

“We’ve had the most lovely holiday here – fantastic meals and hospitality with views to die for.  Thank you so much Ernest and Julio for coping with this curious mixed weird family…”
Ginnie

“Thanks to you both, Ernest and Julio, these few days have been a wonderful break to celebrate John’s seventieth, and all the family to join up  for a miraculously festive occasion – all in the fabulous surroundings of Castel Ernesto.”
Anthony, August, 2009

“Thank you for a comfortable and delightful week in your charming home and for all the help during our “RECCE” week…”
Michael and Louise, France, September, 2009

“Muchas gracias!  We’ve had a wonderful time here in Andalucía which was made all the Moor better by having such a great home in Torrox to come back to.  You’ve been great hosts, from chermoya provisions, late night medical centre translations (thanks again – extremely grateful for that) to backroad scenic routes to the great mountain city of Ronda.  We all thought your home was warm and charming and the views of the mountains we’ll never forget and will never get old.  Our only regret is not having a chance to sample a bit of Julio’s cooking!  But there is so much to see in Andalucía, we are sure to be back sometime.”
Lidia and Jan, Toronto, Pauline and Tarot, London, October, 2009

“Very many thanks, Ernest and Julio.  The apartment lived up to the very high expectations we came with – very quiet, relaxing, comfortable surroundings with fabulous views and more than enough to keep us occupied for a few days.
Special things….winding, death defying drives in the mountains….the ‘private’ beach  at Maro,…the ruined house high up in the hills above the until recently ruined village…tapas in one or two lovely bars we got to know pretty well.
We go home replenished and sun drenched for the winter months…”
Claire, Ed and Ben, Cambridge, October, 2009

“Thank you for an enjoyable and relaxing few days.
We came to get away from it all and recharge the batteries; which we have done!
Lazy mornings on the terrace, lazy lunches, lazing on the beach in the afternoon, you get the picture.
I would like it on record however that I did swim in the sea – chilly but bearable.
The Alhambra was wonderful but I would also recommend the caves at Nerja – they were spectacular.
Wonderful, accommodating and extremely helpful hosts, thank you.”
Carrie and Ron, Dublin, October, 2009

“We had a lovely week in Torrox in your wonderful house and are looking forward to our fortnight in the summer.
We were so lucky that the weather was fantastic and the apartment was lovely.  We had a super time.”
Carol and Martin, Hitchin, Herts., November, 2009

“Thank you for making our stay in the Torrox Town House so welcoming and comfortable.  I felt totally ‘at peace’ in a very short space of time and look forward to returning in the future!”
Margaret

“Thank you Ernest and Julio for making us so welcome and comfortable on our short stay in your homely apartment.  I’m sorry we’re not staying longer, especially as we’re returning to snow and ice in England!”
Val, England, January, 2010.

“Thank you for providing such a lovely apartment in which to idle away a week doing nothing but reading.”
Mairead, London, March, 2010.

“You have a lovely home, we really enjoyed staying here.  We will have no problems recommending it to family and friends.  Thank you.”
The Ancorne family, England, April, 2010.

“We came, we saw, we stayed rather longer than we expected!  Thanks to that volcano we had five extra days of lovely times here at the Torrox town house with brothers Ernest and Julio.  We ate, shopped, jigsaw puzzled, crossword solved, drank and enjoyed 10 books (Esther) plus Billy Connoly, Fawlty Towers and Ab Fab.  It was a really Ab Fab holiday!”
John

“Was a crazy adventure! Good food, burnt heads and endless travel plans!”
Esther

“As lovely as ever to be here.  Spring flowers are beautiful and John and I had a romantic walk through monsoon-like rain to fetch our favourite hot chicken for Sunday lunch.  Our extended stay gave me lots of time for reflection and I feel renewed and ready to get back to London life.”
Morag, London, April, 2010.

“Thanks for a great holiday!  Wonderful house in a lovely village.  Hope to see you again soon.”
Shirley and Mike, Colchester, May, 2010.

“We have had a wonderful holiday, which was greatly enhanced by your welcome, your attentiveness and your obvious wish to make us comfortable in your beautiful home.
Once in a while one comes across somewhere really special.  ‘The House of the Inquisition’ exudes history, charm and character, whilst still maintaining a homely atmosphere.  This is the first holiday home in which we have stayed which has at least 1,000 books and as many pot plants spread around an enormous terrace, with glorious mountain views, darting swallows and, of course, the chorus of frogs from the river below.
It has been a privilege to stay in such a lovely old house, steeped in history and full of such memorable features.
We are so lucky to be going home with so many special memories – thank you both once again.
P. S. We loved your cats!”
Lilian and Gerry, Hexham, Northumberland, May, 2010.

“A beautiful and relaxing place to stay. We had planned to visit many other places but we just stayed in the village and in the castilette and what a good choice!  We go home (unfortunately) relaxed and so happy.
We will be back next year...Thank you.”
Denise and Laurence Taylor, June, 2010.

“Thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome, our stay was extremely relaxing and everything we hoped it would be.  First job when we get home....book for next year!”
Carol and Martin Winter, Hitchin, Herts., July, 2010.

“Many thanks for a wonderful stay in your fabulous house.  Every time I looked around I found something new 2 c.
My week flew and my only regret is that it was not longer.
Your hospitality and kindness was exceptional.”
Anette, Limerick.

“We have had a wonderful three weeks in your beautiful home.  Thank you so much for all your kindness and hospitality.  We really enjoyed Ernest's birthday lunch and our chats in the evening over a glass of vino!  Really hope to come back again.”
Maura and Lynne, Limerick.

“Thank you both for a really lovely holiday.  Enjoyed the chats + vino.”
Brenda, Tipperary, Ireland, July, 2010.

“This time I have spent in Spain, both here and in Granada, has been energizing, restful and a time of personal growth.  It almost feels that I was always supposed to find the two of you here.  Thank you.  With love.”
Helen, Sheffield, August, 2010.

“Unfortunately no volcanic dust or train strike to help us prolong our stay.  We tried but to no avail!  Its not just the house that makes the stay so enjoyable – its finding Julio and Ernest in it!  Oh and communing with the little Chameleon – master of disguises....
We have never found somewhere as soulful as this to stay in.  We could cook without having to huddle round one small bowl; We could relax without fighting over the one comfortable chair! (All have happened in other places).
Thank you for your conversation, intelligence and generosity.  We loved sharing your food and your time.  Expect to see us again....”
Suzanne

“Muchas gracias, para mi ha sido el vacación perfecto....”
Trish, Whitstable, Kent, August, 2010.
